Candida is one infectious disease that initiates on account of the presence of certain yeast and fungi. A range of varieties of Candida infections exists, but the most popularly known one is Candida albicans. This particular kind of fungi survives on our skin surface. Due to various environmental conditions, mainly moist and warm areas, they become abundant and cause infection. Any cut in the dermal layer allows the fungi to penetrate the skin.

• In women, a white cheesy discharge from the vagina is known as vaginal yeast infection. This infection also causes itching and irritation in the vagina and surrounding areas. There may also be burning while urination and pain while having intercourse. Use of antibiotics, birth control pills and steroids contribute in getting a yeast infection. Yeast infection generally occurs after menopause.
• In case of people having a weak immune system, the internal organs are infected by Candida. It can result into tenderness, and at times,or even the organs may dysfunction. People taking steroids or people who had cancer treatments are easily infected by this yeast. Esophagitis, and yeast contagion, is found mostly in people suffering from AIDS. This infects the upper gastrointestinal systems. It is similar to thrush; however, it moves down from the mouth to the abdominal region. It can lead to painful ulcers all across the gastrointestinal system. It can even make it painful to swallow fluids. Although Candida infection can affect the whole body but the most frequently infected parts of body are heart, kidney, eye, brain, lungs, liver, and spleen.
• Candida yeast can make you feel sick and feverish if it enters your blood stream. On reaching your brain, it may cause prickly transformations in behavior and mental functioning of the brain.
Candidacies can be treated through home remedies as well as via medicines. For treating vaginal yeast infection, Garlic, honey, vinegar and yogurt are a few home remedies. Regular use of these can get you rid of the infection. But If we find the infection to be of severe nature, medicines like Tioconazole, Butoconazole and Clotrimazole when massaged in the vagina and surrounding areas for five to seven days can give you relief. But if symptoms persist prolong extending seven days; you need to intimate your doctor. In case of thrush, swishing Nystatin around in the mouth can help.
Most Candida infections go away with proper treatment. Vaginal yeast infections, thrush, and diaper rash generally take one to two weeks to clear. But with people with weak immune system, it can take longer.
