Will it affect the monistat “cure”, being used for yeast infection? Does semen cause yeast infection if it is deposited several times a week?

If you are treating yourself for a yeast infection it is not a good idea to have sexual relations. You want yourself to remain as clean as possible during the treatment.
During relations you run the risk of ‘watering down’ (for lack of better words) the medication.
You also may run the risk of other bacteria or germs to be presented into the infected area by your sex partner.
Yeast infection can be more accurately described as an overgrowth of a fungus called Candida – commonly called ‘yeast’. Every healthy person hosts a broad spectrum of micro-organisms in their system including bacteria and fungus.
Normally, when everything is in balance, the presence of ‘yeast’ or Candida in your body is not a problem. The problem occurs, however, when your system somehow gets unbalanced and the body’s yeast population takes over.
Scientists have identified several different types of Candida that can cause infections but about 80 percent are due to a variety called Candida albicans.
Semen itself does not cause a yeast infection.

You should not have sex while treating for a yeast infection. First, Yeast infections CAN spread. It would royally suck to infect your partner. Also, the insertion and removal of the penis, or any other objects into the vagina while treating will remove some of the medication, making it much less effective. Semen on it’s own will not cause a yeast infection, however if your vaginal area isn’t cleaned after sex, that can easily cause one. Yeast infections are generally caused by a moisture build up in the vagina for an extended period of time – i.e. not cleaning up after sex, not properly drying after showers, wearing tight, wet undergarments for extended periods of time [bathing suits etc.]
